You’ve surely been told to practice with a metronome before (like in yesterday's blog!), and I bet you have tried several times but got frustrated feeling like it was doing more harm than good, which over time led to dreading that distracting click.
But what if we could learn to love it? What if it became a tool that instilled the context of the steady beat into your music? What if it made practicing more satisfying, productive, and led to more consistency?
Well, I am so excited to share this simple exercise that is the foundation of my full True Rhythm Mastery course and the foundation to actually getting those benefits from the metronome!

I learned this exercise when I was playing in my high school’s world class, state champion percussion ensemble. You can always trust good percussionists to know what they are talking about when it comes to rhythm!
Before I started nerding out on this exercise, the metronome truly felt like a nemesis.
And I mean peak band geek nerdy, literally walking in time between my classes and going through this exercise in my head multiple times a day.
But, it was worth it! After a few weeks of doing that, I’ve never found the metronome to be frustrating since, and I feel like I have a pretty good sense of rhythm 😉
So if you are ready to stop getting distracted by the metronome, feeling annoyed and frustrated by the obnoxious clicking, and start your path from being a Rhythm Faker to a True Rhythm Master…
Go to https://www.quickstartclarinet.com/metronome and start nerding out on that metronome exercise!
It takes less than a minute, and you can do it anywhere!
Happy Metronoming,
Josh
I can't wait to see where your clarinet journey takes you!
